Delving into the Word

"How happy is the man
who does not follow the advice of the wicked
or take the path of sinners
or join a group of mockers!
2 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction,
and he meditates on it day and night."

This is Psalm 1, verses 1 and 2 (HCSB).

Most of us probably remember this psalm beginning with "blessed be," but the Hebrew translation actually leans more towards "O the happiness of the man!" or "How happy is the man!"

Anyway, these verses really do make sense, especially with "how happy."
My Biblical Perspectives professor rephrased these verses like this:

"Oh the happinesses of those who avoid people who don't have their best interests at heart, but who instead fill themselves up with so much of God's word that it keeps flowing out of them."

We can be happy if we avoid people and situations that would get us into trouble.  That's pretty logical.
Even moreso, we can be truly content if we replace these people and situations with God's word-- if we delve into the Bible.  Our perspective will change and we will delight in his word.

So that's the point of this blog.  I am going to delve into the Word and blog about it.  If you want to follow along, I welcome you.  Let's delve into the Word.
